Road building
A key part of Miskolc’s city centre infrastructure could be redeveloped
Perhaps the busiest junction in Miskolc is the intersection bordering Búza Square to the south, where main roads 3 and 26 meet. More than 20,000 vehicles pass through here every day, with a particularly high volume of heavy goods vehicles and buses. Due to the high volume of traffic, the road surface required urgent modernisation, with particular emphasis placed on the reconstruction of the bus stops.
It is made durable with a heavy-duty wear layer
The MENTO Kft. project, featuring heavy-duty basalt concrete bus stops fitted with new kerbs, and work has also begun on milling the asphalt on the section of Main Road 3 between Zsolcai Gate and the playground on Király Street.
„Our colleagues are making rapid progress with a high-performance milling machine; and as the weather is also looking favourable, the asphalting work can begin within days – with the laying of the heavy-duty wearing course used on motorways” – writes the contractor social media page in a post.
Pavements and drains are also being upgraded
At the junction on Bajcsy-Zsilinszky Endre Street, the paving stone-covered pavements leading to the pedestrian crossings are also being rebuilt in several places, and will be fitted with lowered kerbs. „In addition, we are constructing a total of 205 metres of raised kerbs along the affected section,” they emphasised.
The specialists will also raise the level of the drains and manhole covers on both sides of the road, and where necessary, they will replace the drains.
