The STRABAG project could renovate kilometres of Marcali’s main north-south road
One of Marcali’s most important, longest and most densely populated transport routes is Noszlopy Gáspár Street, which runs northwards from the town centre towards the Kisgomba district. For a long time, this street formed the section of Main Road 68 that ran through the town. The street’s route was established at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, when the single-storey tenement blocks belonging to the Esterházy estate were purchased and demolished.
As part of the project launched by the Marcali Micro-region Multipurpose Association, a section of Noszlopy Gáspár Street approximately 1,030 metres long is to be upgraded by STRABAG will be able to renovate a section of Noszlopy Gáspár Street approximately 1,030 metres long, running northwards from the junction with Rózsa Street to the cycle crossing at the entrance to the OMV petrol station. The works, valued at approximately 76 million forints, will affect only properties owned by the town.
It may even be necessary to replace the entire track structure
The contractor is responsible for resurfacing the main road and carrying out the necessary associated works, as follows:
- road resurfacing using asphalt paving, including the laying of a levelling and wearing course;
- replacement of the entire track structure in areas where faults indicate that the subgrade’s load-bearing capacity is insufficient;
- the refurbishment of the bus bay on the relevant section of road, also involving the laying of an asphalt surface and the replacement of the kerb stones;
- benches on both sides;
- levelling the covers of utility manholes;
- renovation of traffic control elements (road markings, signs).

- Length of the road section: 1,030 metres
- pavement width: 7.0–7.2 metres
- Asphalt surface to be resurfaced: 8,510 m2
- bus bays: 4
- embankment construction: 206 m3
- Raising manhole covers to level: 25 units
- Machine-applied road markings: 210 m2
- Installation of KRESZ panels: 40 units
