Perhaps the most beautiful church in Kalotaszeg renovated

The fence, the pavement, the organ and the prayer room in the church in Körösfő were also renewed, financed jointly by the Hungarian Government, the Transylvanian Reformed Church and the local congregation.

In terms of church architecture, Kalotaszeg is one of the most homogeneous Hungarian landscapes. Almost all of the churches, most of them Reformed, are medieval, although the most beautiful one in Körösfő was built around 1690: its medieval predecessor was destroyed during the Ottoman occupation. The church was restored to its present form in 1833-34, when two Roman sarcophagi were walled into the southern stone fence.

The slender, four-bay, steeple-and-turret, oriental Reformed church was built on the hilltop above the village. Its original curved perimeter wall still retains the medieval feel of the church, while the interior is richly decorated: under the 17th-18th century painted wood-panelled ceiling is an ornately carved, painted pulpit and a painted organ, installed in 1841. Among the church's precious treasures are the old Calotastrian sewing boxes that dominate the entire church space.
