AGO-Steel strengthens with laser technology - the Hungarian company aims for the biggest investments by expanding its machine park

Founded in 2020, AGO-Steel Kft., founded in 2020, has evolved from a team of colleagues into a metal and steel structure manufacturing and installation company that has participated in a number of high-profile investments across the country in recent years. The rapidly growing company, which now employs a total of 180 people, has expanded its already impressive range of equipment in recent months with three modern laser cutting and laser pipe cutting machines.

Not sitting on their laurels

As we learned, the company has already been an integral part of projects such as the renovation of the downtown section of the M3 metro in Budapest (SWIETELSKY Építő Kft. was the main contractor for the construction of the stations and Swietelsky Vasúttechnika Kft. for the renovation of the tunnels and tracks), or the construction of the Rheinmetal military technology factory in Zalaegerszeg (AGO-Steel worked on behalf of ZÁÉV Zrt. and KÉSZ Csoport).

The Bystronic 12 kW fibre head in operation

He added that the AGO-Steel at the company's Dombóvár site, with the addition of three newly purchased machines, provides the market with a capacity that is unique in Hungary in terms of quantity and form.

• The first of these is a Swiss Bystronic laser cutting machine with a table size of 8×2.5 metres and a 12 KW fibre head. It has a speed of 3100 mm/min and cuts exclusively with oxygen, which makes it extremely economical.
• They purchased an Italian Adige LT 651 pipe cutting machine with a 2 kW Rofin laser head, automatic, feeding system, which uses Almacam software to cut the pipe with high precision based on a 3D model.
• The first of these is a Swiss Bystronic laser cutting machine with a table size of 8×2.5 metres and a 12 KW fibre head. It has a speed of 3100 mm/min and cuts exclusively with oxygen up to a thickness of 15 mm, and uses different cutting gases up to 45 mm, which allow for a very economical operation.

The machines at the Dombóvár site can work in three shifts 24 hours a day: 12 new workers have been hired by AGO-Steel.

As we learned from the CEO, they chose these three devices because they are extremely reliable and have a strong service background in Hungary. Also an important factor in the decision was that they have acquired completely new capacity and will no longer have to outsource some of the tasks they have won.

Improving both quantity and quality

The series of investments will improve both quality and the company's management, and they will be able to deliver at a much lower price, he pointed out. "We will be able to cover a wider range of metal structure manufacturing and our customers will be able to choose us with even greater confidence, he concluded.

He also explained:

"With this technological development, we hope to become more visible on the market and thus be able to participate in the largest investments: our capacity has increased by at least 500 tonnes/hour."

The company is on a spectacular upward trajectory

The investment fits in well with the company's already impressive upward growth trend: from an initial HUF 42 million turnover in 2020, the company's turnover increased to nearly HUF 270 million in 2021, and to more than HUF 770 million in 2022.

Miklós Agócs told us: they are planning a threefold increase this year.

For AGO-Steel, the expansion of its premises or even a move to a larger location has become a topical issue, which they would like to do this year.

"We already had the expertise in our team to take on any job, but with this investment in automation we have shown that we want to be a major player in the iron and steel industry. I don't know of any other manufacturing company that has two stone lasers of this power and two laser cutting tables: we are trying to do the impossible"
