Another award for Corvinus Gellért Campus - German environmental experts point to it as a role model

Almost a year ago, handed over the Corvinus University Gellért Campus on the Buda side of the capital, on Ménesi Road in District XI, on the side of Gellért Hill. The 14,000-square-metre building, which can accommodate 680 students, features multifunctional teaching and research rooms and communal spaces. The dormitory section of the institution offers discounted accommodation for 180 students in rooms with 2-3 beds and private bathrooms.

The complex, designed with a unique energy system, also houses six professorial apartments, a multifunctional sports centre, an outdoor and an indoor team sports field, a fitness room and four movement studios.

More recognition at home

Since its launch, the educational development project designed and implemented by the Market group has received several significant awards. We reported that awarded the joint <a href="https://magyarepitok.hu/iparagi-hirek/2024/12/university-building-receives-budapest-architectural-award and the ÉVOSZ (National Association of Construction Contractors) ceremonial gala, the project representatives received the Green Building of the Year Special Award in the high-rise category.

The facility has now received further recognition, again for its achievements in the field of sustainability. As mentioned on the Facebook page of the Market group was written by at a conference organised by Deutsche Umwelthilfe, one of Germany’s long-established environmental organisations, on the theme of „Sustainable Building Renovation”, the Corvinus Gellért Campus project was presented as a model project.

These green solutions are needed to make an investment a model project for the German industry

As the post of Market shows, at the event held at the end of November 2024, Agoston Flaisz, CEO of Planet Group presented the innovative and environmentally conscious technologies used in the development of the campus, such as:

  • installation of a solar panel system on top of the education tower,
  • installing ground source heat pumps to improve heating and cooling energy efficiency,
  • modern insulation solutions to minimise energy consumption
  • green roofs on the roof levels and almost 12,000 square metres of green space in the immediate vicinity of the building, contributing to improving the urban climate.
