Hungarian market leader continues its European expansion - Duna Group acquires Czech and Romanian road construction companies
According to the acquisition announcement, the leading domestic infrastructure group has acquired a majority stake in VALCANO a.s. in the Czech Republic, a significant step towards expanding its Duna Group portfolio.
Founded in 2008, the company is a stable player in the Czech road construction industry and has also built many kilometres of railway underpinning on the country's main lines in recent years.
Innovative operation fits well with the Duna Group's objectives
The Czech-based company, which employs more than 80 people, operates a state-of-the-art fleet of machinery and industry-leading technologies, including 3D earthwork management and integrated stabilisation systems. Its innovative solutions, efficient project management and professional recognition fit well with the objectives and development strategy of Duna Group," the statement said.
The joint work has already begun: currently, Valcano a.s. and Duna Aszfalt Zrt. are working together on the construction of a 5.17-kilometre-long, two-lane road, the western bypass of the town of Prestice in the Plzen region, which also serves as the professional foundation for the partnership. Our newspaper has previously reported on the laying of the foundation stone for this project .
Nearly three decades of history of the company acquired in Romania
Turning to the other acquisition announced today, in Romania, Duna Aszfalt Zrt. has also acquired a majority stake in EURO STRADA SRL, a long-standing player in the Romanian road infrastructure and concrete and asphalt production markets.
Founded in 1998, the company employs more than 80 people and has a modern machine park and a ISO certified laboratory.
We reported on the planned Romanian transaction back in February, when Duna Group announced that it had entered into an agreement to acquire the company.
