Fully automated warehouse completed at Unilever's Nyírbátor plant

The Unilever Magyarország Kft. household chemical plant in Nyírbátor is completed. The €60 million (about HUF 23 billion) investment was entirely self-financed, the company said in a statement sent to MTI.

The development has increased annual production capacity from 300 million tonnes to 500 million tonnes, and the site has become one of the most efficient, state-of-the-art factories in Europe for the Anglo-Dutch parent company.

They note that the Nyírbátor site is available for further significant capacity development and for the construction of new factories.

In the second phase, a loading bay and a modern, fully automated, 8,000 square metre warehouse with a 32 metre high ceiling were built. This investment complemented the first phase, which was completed a year and a half ago and included the construction of an 11 400 m2 packing hall and the installation of two new production lines.

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said at the handover of the Unilever Magyarország Kft. that the increase in the capacity of the detergent plant will create eighty new jobs, while the global economic situation has been challenging in recent years.

"So it is not an exaggeration to say that we are living in the black years of the world economy. This is also shown by the fact that greenfield investments in Europe fell by 15 percent last year, and it must also be seen that as long as the war continues, this uncertain economic environment, which is bad for everyone, will continue" - the Minister said.

According to publicly available company data, Unilever Magyarország Kft. achieved net sales of HUF 122.5 billion in 2022, up from HUF 99.4 billion in 2021, and its profit after tax increased from HUF 2.88 billion in 2021 to HUF 3.8 billion in 2022.
