What is being built?

The scaffolding was also precisely fitted to a curved building in Siófok

PERI used laser scanner technology to scaffold a 15-apartment apartment building with a unique shape in Siofok.

In order to erect scaffolding around an existing building in the most optimal and economical way, it is essential to know the exact dimensions of the building. This is easy when surveying a building with a flat façade, but it can be very difficult if the building has unusual shapes. The latter example provides a precise solution for the PERI Kft. Admiral Garden in Siófok during the scaffolding of a specially shaped 15-apartment condominium.

New technology was needed

The scaffolding works in the housing estate were informed by the experts of PERI. Traditional technology proved insufficient for the survey of the 15-apartment apartment block, built by MTB Industrial Kft. right on the waterfront: the unique drop-like floor plan and curved walls of the building could not be digitally mapped with the traditional survey tools.

As a solution, the engineers at PERI used 3D laser scanning technology to create the most accurate survey plan possible.

With the help of the scanner, not only the building geometry but also the immediate surroundings can be accurately mapped, which increases safety by avoiding accident-prone site solutions thanks to precise planning. The scan of the entire building and its surroundings at mark 5 resulted in a 3D point cloud compiled from the results of 14 measurement points. The accuracy of the survey is well represented by

The point cloud resulting from the overlap of consecutive points was constructed with an error margin of only 2 mm.

With such precision, any factors affecting the scaffolding design (whether due to the building or the site) can be taken into account at the design stage, eliminating problems that sometimes only arise during assembly. Thanks to the 3D building model obtained after processing the point cloud, the number of man-hours spent on scaffolding design has also been greatly reduced," the release stresses.

Combinability of scaffolding systems was important

Of course, it was not only the scanning that contributed to the success of the project, but also the versatility of the PERI UP Easy stand system, which, with its 67 cm width and flexible grid dimensions, was easily adaptable to such a difficult location; and, thanks to the rosettes on the frames, it can also be easily combined with the elements of the PERI UP Flex modular scaffolding system. The name Easy refers not only to its ease of use, but also to its lightweight, easy-to-handle components, which allowed the entire façade scaffolding to be erected quickly and efficiently.

This was particularly important during the construction process, as it meant that the daily lives of the residents of the building were affected as little as possible. The system is also extremely safe, as the guard rails of the next level can be preassembled from the safe working level without the need for any auxiliary elements. By accurately tracing the curved walls of the building and positioning the scaffolding panels sufficiently close to the facade, the amount of internal handrails and footings required was significantly reduced, further enhancing cost-effectiveness. Exits and entrances to the façade were easily traced using the system's brackets 33 and 67. Finally, we learned,

The successful design and construction of the scaffolding and the smooth execution of the entire work process proved so successful that the company has since added point cloud survey service into its portfolio.
