Full protection of the Rome coast at the turning point

The modernisation of the flood defences along the Aranyhegyi stream is one of the largest flood protection projects in the capital. As previously reported, as part of the second phase of the protective structure, the left bank embankment was rebuilt along a 1,400-metre stretch starting from the Nánási út protective line section and continuing along Szentendrei út.

The protection of the Csillaghegyi bay, i.e. the area bordered by the Aranyhegyi stream, the Szentendrei road and the Barát stream, belonging to the III. district, is of high priority, as the area around the Romani bank is highly endangered from a flood protection point of view.

In addition to the ongoing planning of flood protection measures for the Római-part, the first phase of the Pünkösdfürdő flood defence and the Aranyhegyi stream flood defence first phase of the flood protection works on the Római-part, the Pünkösdfürdő flood protection works and the Aranyhegyi stream flood protection works has already been completed by Swietelsky Építő Kft.. The currently completed second phase has been completed, and thanks to the work of Colas Alterra Zrt., the flood protection of the Csillaghegy bay area was significantly improved, according to information provided by the municipal government of the capital city to MTI. During the project, the stability of certain sections of the protective structures was increased, as was their resistance to leaks.

The project involved the reinforcement of 1.7 km of the Pünkösdfürdő barrier and 2.1 km of the Aranyhegyi stream protection. The project was funded by the European Union as part of the Environment and Energy Efficiency Operational Programme, with a budget of HUF 6.2 billion, the press release said.
