Mohács to transform the Danube bank into an attractive meeting place

A public procurement tender has been issued for the design of the renovation of the Danube riverbank in Mohács, Sokac-rév, Mohács 500 Nonprofit Kft. According to the announcement published in the EU public procurement bulletin, the aim of the project is to transform this section of the riverbank into an urban public space, a green meeting place and an attractive destination for tourists and those seeking relaxation. According to the description, the green areas in question can only be used for leisure activities to a limited extent due to their disorderly state.

The planner should open traffic routes between the city centre and the waterfront, focusing on pedestrian and cycling traffic.

The new port would serve small and large vessels

The planned investment would cover an area of around 12,000 square metres. The main aim is to create conditions for sports and water tourism. For this reason, the design of passenger boat marinas to serve pleasure boats, small motor boats and hotel boats is a priority in the call for proposals.

During the renovation of the ferry terminal, in addition to catering and entertainment venues, recreational areas will also be created, including a floating stage.

According to the tender, the defences will be renewed and the ship repair workshop building will be converted into a boarding house. The design also includes a camping site, a bicycle and boat rental, a boat harbour and a ferry and pilotage crossing.
