Prefabricated reinforced concrete for the car of the future
As we reported earlier, Leier Hungária Kft. is building its latest 18,000 m2 hall in Papa with its own prefabricated products in its own investment, in collaboration with Merkbau Zrt.. Built for Yanfeng Automotive Interiors, one of the world's leading automotive suppliers, the Shanghai-based Yanfeng Automotive Interiors plant will produce BMW dashboards and Porsche door panels.
Thanks to Leier products, the complete reinforced concrete structure was completed in 3.5 months. And now, nine months after the start of the project, they have already held the bushwalking ceremony for the Yanfeng hall. And as Matthias Ebner, owner of Leier, reminded us in his speech, the bush ceremony is a tradition dating back to the Middle Ages, in which the work of the builders was appreciated, recognised and rewarded.
Tight schedule
"Thanks are due to Merkbau and its employees, whose professional work and constructive approach to the tight schedule were essential for the smooth implementation of the project"
- highlighted Matthias Ebner. A similarly valuable collaboration has developed towards the Leier, where the partners "have brought the project to success with Leier drive and attitude."
The bushwalk celebration is a tribute to the work that has been done, which is particularly timely here, as construction has been progressing at an exceptional pace even in the cold, winter months. At Leier, work is of exceptional importance. "We are surrounded," he added, "by this building, which has reached its highest point in a remarkably short time thanks to the efforts of engineers, workers and many other employees".
"However, the fruits of the work of the participants in the celebration will be enjoyed by the workers of the factory in the long term"
- said József Vallyon, factory manager of the Yanfeng, adding that the hall was built in nine months, which is a great achievement. The BMW plant in Debrecen is currently under construction and will be partly served by the dashboards made here, as well as the door panels for the new Porsche Cayenne, with a total workforce of around 200.
There are many traditions at Merkbau Zrt. "We have a singing group, an annual ball and sports circles. But the tradition we hold most dear is the bush festival," said József Knáb, Director of Merkbau Zrt. Enterprise, in his speech.
The work does not end
It is important to note that the building has reached its highest point for the bushwalk, but it is not yet finished - so this event is about looking forward. He pointed out that this is the second time that Yanfeng has been able to build a Leier hall in Pápa and "we are always happy when someone entrusts us for the second time, because there is no better proof that a relationship works."
This investment is also special because it uses a prefabricated structure built by Leier. Everything that can be done has been prefabricated on this building and all the elements used have been made in one of the Leier factories. In this regard, the Director of Contractors commented:
"There's a lot of talk in the construction industry about BIM and digital transformation, that's the day after tomorrow. But tomorrow is what Leier is already practicing today: the use of prefabricated elements to this degree."
Before Gergő Bőti could recite the bokreta poem (who also greeted some of his colleagues from Merkbau: Dániel Turi architect, Dániel Kovács architect and Gábor Varga facilities manager), József Knáb presented the impressive frame numbers of the building. As he said:
- we moved 18.000 m3 land,
- in place of which we have built 19.000m3 bedding,
- 11.000 m3 monolithic concrete was installed in the building,
- 350 tonnes of reinforcing steel,
- 18.000 m2 trapezoidal sheet metal covers the building.
"But the work," he said, "does not stop there, as we still have about 2,000 m2 of hot and cold paving and 11,000 m2 of road construction ahead of us."
