Seventy thousand people in the region rejoice - The bypass of the border town is ready
The implementation was carried out by the STRABAG group. As part of the project, which was implemented with investment from the Ministry of Construction and Transport, a completely new 2,635-metre-long road was built, while the 285-metre-long section of Kenyérgyári út was upgraded to a secondary urban main road.
The new two-lane road will simultaneously relieve traffic congestion in the southern part of the city and open up the industrial area.
The handover ceremony was attended by István Nagy, Hungary's Minister of Agriculture and Member of Parliament for the region, Bálint Nagy, State Secretary for Transport, and István Árvay, Mayor of Mosonmagyaróvár.
The overpass spans almost 27 metres over the railway
During construction, the entire road structure was rebuilt along a 310-metre section of Main Road No. 1 and a 430-metre section of Main Road No. 86. Of the major junctions on the affected road section, three were constructed as roundabouts, while a turning lane junction was built at the 1+640 km section of the main road. In addition, a cycle path and shared pedestrian-cycle path sections were also constructed over a length of approximately 1,300 metres. Our portal has reported on the works on several occasions. The development also affected railway line No. 1, Budapest–Hegyeshalom–Rajka, over which a nearly 27-metre-long overpass was built from prefabricated reinforced concrete bridge beams. The construction of the railway structure was preceded by the replacement of the overhead lines and the safety equipment network. Only then could the piling and structural work begin, as well as the construction of the associated retaining wall. The latter is a gambion retaining wall with sections 135 and 183 metres long, reaching a maximum height of ten metres.
The Mosoni-Danube riverbed has also been corrected
Part of the relief road is a greenfield project. Here, the construction of the embankment was preceded by cement-lime soil stabilisation works in the area concerned, after humus removal. At several points during the project, the water, sewage, electricity, telecommunications and hydrocarbon pipelines had to be replaced. In addition, work was carried out to correct the bed of the Moson-Danube.
The project was completed with a net investment of HUF 4 billion 669 million.
