The nearby industrial park will also be home to the German Rheinmetall and Chinese BYD factories, which will produce components for electric and hydrogen-powered vehicles, and the first European plant for the Chinese e-car brand.

The Szeged PSP Terminal, which was built by Petrolsped Szállítmányozási Kft. in the former transshipment area of kiskundorozsmai with an investment of almost one billion HUF, is already operational, the Association of Hungarian Logistics Service Centres (MLSZKSZ) informed on Tuesday.

As part of the development

  • rebuilt the pavement of the loading area,
  • camera and number plate recognition systems,
  • the commercial office was renovated
  • and opened a new service road to avoid residential areas.

The terminal will focus mainly on intermodal transhipment, mainly to divert road freight from the southern Great Plain region and Serbia and Romania to rail, thus reducing westbound truck traffic.

They can load crane and non-crane semi-trailers and containers onto rail wagons using mobile lifting equipment.

Building materials for the Rheinmetall and BYD construction projects are also supplied here

They also load and unload bulk goods - mainly building materials - for construction sites in the area.

The nearby industrial park will also be home to the German Rheinmetall and Chinese BYD factories, which will produce components for electric and hydrogen-powered vehicles, and the first European plant for the Chinese e-car brand.

A container and trailer lifter is already working at the terminal and more lifters and loaders will arrive shortly. The terminal can handle more than 1200 standard container units (TEU) at a time.

the terminal investor, in cooperation with the municipality and Magyar Közút, has built a separate access road, allowing trucks to reach the industrial park by a shorter route and avoiding the built-up area.

Attila Kovács, the terminal's managing director, explained that currently three bulk trains a week are unloaded, but from June they are expecting individual wagon group containers, and from July they will handle container trains on a weekly basis. He added that the terminal will be further developed to meet demand.
