One of Balatonfüred's busiest intersections is to be rebuilt, with a roundabout at the intersection of Kossuth-Csárda and Iskola streets to make crossing easier.

The Municipality of Balatonfüred and the consortium of Magyar Közút Nonprofit Zrt. will select by public tender which company will build the new roundabout at the intersection of Kossuth-Csárda- Iskola streets on road 7303.
The project will make crossing safer for both vehicular and pedestrian traffic. There are two schools nearby, but access to the post office and pharmacy will also be easier after the intersection is reconstructed.

Four roads meet at the six-metre wide roundabout

When the junction is built, the pedestrian crossing at School Street will be relocated and a new footpath will be connected to it. On Kossuth Street, which leads to the main square of the town, the bus stop will be modified in both directions.

The roundabout will be six metres wide, with an outer curve of ten metres and four entry and exit branches to help traffic through the intersection. This will require the demolition of 630 square metres of concrete pavement and 16 square metres of asphalt. The works will involve the excavation of 650 square metres.

After the roundabout is built, the areas affected by the works will be resurfaced and 38 trees will be planted and the areas around the junction will be grassed.

The contractor will be responsible for the drainage of rainfall on the pavement by installing gutters in the closed drain. The project will also involve replacing the electrical wiring, renovating the existing candelabra lights and installing new ones.
