Investment to reduce recession starts in a Transdanubian city
The Hungarian University of Agricultural and Life Sciences (MATE) is upgrading the energy efficiency of two buildings on its Kaposvár campus.The HUF 517 million contract for the construction of Pillér Invest Kft. is scheduled to be completed by next September.
The project will also affect the locally protected building
European Union funding will finance the energy modernisation of two buildings on the Kaposvár campus of the Hungarian University of Agricultural and Life Sciences (MATE). Pillér Invest Kft. was the best bidder in the procurement procedure. The contractor will have to replace the windows of the old academic building with a floor area of 4 130 m2 and carry out thermal insulation works on the roofs, in addition to the circular building with a floor area of around 1 430 m2 which is under local protection.
Thirty-five per cent reduction in maintenance costs could result from the investment
The project will also include a modern lightning protection system for the two buildings, and the heating and cooling of the office and seminar rooms in the old academic building will be solved by installing a heat pump system.
The contract was signed with the contractor, said Csaba Gyuricza, professor and rector of MATE, after the event,
the development will cover 5,500 square metres, which will allow the maintenance costs of the two buildings to be reduced by 30-35 percent.
The head of the institution recalled that developments are underway at the university's central campus, Gödöllő, as well as at the institutions in Szarvas and Keszthely.
