Ten cranes at work on Europe's most modern racetrack
The largest outdoor sports facility in our country, the home of technical sports, is undergoing its biggest transformation ever. During the renovation of Hungaroring, Market Építő Zrt. and Bayer Construct Zrt. consortium is working on a number of tasks. We previously reported on the demolition work on the Super Gold grandstand and the iconic main building, and in the summer we reported that demolition of the tower had begun.
Ten tower cranes on the Hungaroring
The construction will not only open a new chapter in the history of the circuit; it will also create the opportunity for even more modern, world-class facilities to welcome motor sport enthusiasts in the future.
The second phase of development at the Hungarian Formula 1 circuit is well underway. As you can see from the Facebook posts of the Hungaroring and Market, ten tower cranes are currently working on the Hungaroring:
"In the period since this year's Hungarian Grand Prix, the contractor's staff have drilled 641 piles for the foundation of the paddock building and 730 piles for the main stand. On a daily basis, 470 people are working on the site of the largest sports facility in Hungary, and the number of workers is expected to exceed 1,000."

The Hungaroring, built in 1986, has been rebuilt twice so far: first in 1989, when the chicane of curve 3 was removed, and then in 2003, when curve 1 was lowered and curve 12 was straightened. The length of the track was first reduced from 4 104 m to 3 975 m, and in 2003 it reached its current length of 4 381 m. In 2016, the entire track was resurfaced, which was much needed, according to feedback from the riders.
