Two hundred apartments to be built in a small town near Szeged in five years
The largest real estate development project in the history of the city has been launched in Mórahalom, with more than 200 condominium apartments to be built in the next five years in cooperation with external partners in the small town in Csongrád-Csanád County, announced Mayor Zoltán Nógrádi at a press conference on Thursday.
The mayor said that for the condominiums for different target groups, the municipality
- developed the plots,
- carried out the utility works
- and approached the partners involved in the investment.
The municipality has also set up a housing subsidy scheme: families buying a property can receive between HUF 1.25 million and HUF 1.7 million in non-refundable subsidies, depending on the target group.
The first part of the project focuses on older people
Construction of the first condominiums started at the Autumn Rose Service Centre. The centre, which will be completed by next June, will provide day care for the elderly in the city. In connection with this, Domiép Ingatlanfejlesztő Kft. is building 20 apartments for the elderly in three buildings as its own investment, Zoltán Nógrádi said.
The owners of the apartments, who live in their own properties, can use the centre's facilities during the day, and the municipality organises enhanced care for them.
The apartments will be available for purchase by people over 55 years of age, with the municipality acting as a third party in the sales contracts and ensuring that the condominium will continue to be a retirement apartment building
- said at the press conference.
Investment in brownfield sites and construction in the city centre
As part of the city's real estate development project, condominium construction will soon start in the city centre and on a brownfield site, the mayor added.
Laszlo Domonkos, managing owner of the construction company, said that the foundations of the three apartment buildings have already been completed. The ground floor of one of the buildings, which will be completed in the first half of 2026, will be used as a service area.
Two additional wings can be built next to the service centre, with the possibility of 16 apartments, the expert said.
