New development at Liszt Ferenc International Airport to start

At the end of last year, our portal published a news that preparatory work for the construction of Terminal 3 at Liszt Ferenc International Airport was already well underway. Earlier, reported that Colas Alterra Zrt. specialists are working on the construction of a new sewer network at the airport.

Complete demolition of a section of the taxiway to be renovated

In the final days of 2024, the EU public procurement notice published the announcement in the EU Public Procurement Bulletin, in which Budapest Airport Budapest Liszt Ferenc Nemzetközi Repülőtér Üzemeltető Zrt. requested bids from companies for the renovation of a section of the G rolling road.

17 thousand square metres of basalt concrete paving

According to the tender, the complete rehabilitation works are to be carried out on the section of the G taxiway behind the R110-R117 stalls, the TWY A1 - TWY B1 junction and the B1 "stub" pavement. This means that the contractor will have to completely demolish the existing asphalt pavement of the designated area. Once the new sub-structure has been built, they will have to lay an extremely heavy-duty basalt concrete pavement over an area of around 17 000 square metres. Compared to conventional asphalt or concrete pavements, the latter will result in a more durable use. For example, basalt concrete is resistant to the urea solution used in aircraft de-icing.

New lighting to help ensure safe operation of the airport

The works include the construction of a grid river channel along about 260 metres of the affected area and the construction of a new storm drain network along about 900 metres.

The renovation also includes the modernisation of the street lighting, which includes the demolition of the existing poles in the work area and the installation of six new street lighting poles.

The lobby will be rebuilt, which will mean that the lighting substructures and shafts will be under the pavement, so the track for these will also have to be designed. The installation of the lighting substructures will include, among other things, the installation of almost 4,380 metres of protective conduit and more than 2 km of primary cable. The client, the contractor, has also included the installation of a visual navigation support system for aircraft on the site.
Tenders for the works can be submitted until 11 February.
