Multifunctional sports fields built in Borsod municipalities

Sports grounds were also built in Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén and Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg counties as part of the professional association's infrastructure development programme. In four towns in Borsod County – Szakácsi, Selyeb, Taktabáj and Sajókaza – four sports fields with Rekortan surfaces serving three sports were completed under the STR Mély- és Magasépítő Kft. project.

The Hungarian Football Association, in cooperation with the Ministry of the Interior, launched its Track Construction Programme more than a decade ago and in 2019. The aim is to encourage people to take part in regular sport in disadvantaged small villages in safe and modern facilities.

Trails built in nearly sixty days

Within the framework of the programme, STR Mély- és Magasépítő Zrt. built four playgrounds with recortan cover in the settlements of Sakachi, Selyeb, Taktabai and Sajókaza. The smallest of the Borsodi villages, with just 170 inhabitants, Selyeb and Taktabai have between 5 and 600 inhabitants, while Sajókaza has over 2,900 inhabitants. A common feature of the settlements is that between one third and one quarter of the population is under 15 years old.
New multifunctional sports fields with a 20×40 m playing field have been
installed in the municipalities in question in almost 60 days.

Greenfield investment in Szakácsi

In Szakácsi, on a greenfield project site, the experts carrying out the works removed an average of 306 cubic metres of humus layer from a gross area of 924 square metres to a depth of 25.5 centimetres. Some 530 cubic metres of soil had to be moved to create the track.

Drainage system ensures the drainage of the track

To drain the playing field, trenches were dug longitudinally for 236 metres to install a French drainage system of kulé gravel. Water from the area is drained into a drainage ditch with collecting pipes. To create the compacted mirror, 924 square metres of geotextile were used to cover the backfilled and compacted drainage ditches layer by layer. The substructures for the pitch and the lighting, slate and ball net posts were constructed to suit the local ground conditions. For the compacted bedding of the pitch, 351 cubic metres of antifreeze crushed stone of 20/50 and 0/20 grain size were used. The next element of the layering system was the construction of a 35 mm thick gravel rubber layer on which the 10 mm recortan sports surface was laid.

In addition to football, the pitch can also be used as a basketball and handball court

The contractor was responsible for the construction of the 110-centimetre-high palisade, the five-metre-high ball catching net support structure and the paving of the pitch. In addition to football, the pitches will also cater for basketball and handball.
