The latest Praktiker opened in Veszprém
On 23 April, the 23rd member of the Hungarian-owned Praktiker chain opened its doors in Veszprém, built by Weinberg ’93 Építő Kft.. This means that the products and services of the well-known store are now easily accessible to residents and holidaymakers in the Balaton area, according to a press release sent to our newspaper.
The store in numbers
The Praktiker in Veszprém awaits visitors with nearly 28,000 products, logically arranged shopping areas and spectacular showrooms on more than 7,100 square metres.
Highlights include the 1800 square metre garden department with around 4000 products and a wide range of plants, the building materials and wood department with almost 1500 building materials and over 600 wood products.
The building can be reached by car, bicycle and public transport: there are several bus lines from the city centre and from Balatonalmádi to the Tirat-Carmel street stop.
Four new Praktikers in nine years
The Chairman of the Board of Directors of Wallis Asset Management Zrt., founder of Wallis Group, Tibor Veres, the owner of Praktiker, said at the opening of the store that the DIY chain has been owned and operated by the investment group, which owns and operates Hungarian and regional companies, since 2016. In that time, including the current one, they have opened four new stores, bringing the total to 23 locations.
He added: the store in Veszprém is not only another milestone in Praktiker's development, but also a good example of the uninterrupted development of the Wallis Group over 35 years, and its job- and value-creating activities.
László Flórián, Managing Director of Praktiker, said: "The launch of the new store also marks the beginning of a new relationship with the community and customers of Veszprém and the Lake Balaton region.
The store was opened with a donation
On the occasion of the opening of its new store, Praktiker offered support for the Veszprém Vármegyei Csolnoky Ferenc Hospital, which is of great importance to the local community: it will support patient care with a gift voucher worth HUF 1 million and contribute to the daily operation.
Praktiker is one of the best-known DIY chains with a long tradition, which has been present in Hungary since 1998 and has been wholly Hungarian-owned since 2016. The company operates 23 stores and one online shop in Hungary. Its stores have a total area of approximately 130,000 square metres nationwide and employ nearly 1,500 people.
