Renovation and extension of the Návay Technical Centre in Makó

The Návay Lajos Technical School and College in Makó will become a state-of-the-art vocational training institute that meets the most modern educational and industry requirements, as its building on Bajza Street will be renovated and expanded with EU support, said Norbert Ambrus, chancellor of the Vocational Training Centre in Hódmezővásárhely on Friday. The 625 million HUF construction project is being carried out by the Szeged-based RZB Invest Kft.

Modernisation is essential

At the event presenting the two billion HUF project, Norbert Ambrus stressed that in an era of accelerating technological change, it is essential to expand and continuously modernize the training structure.

The aim of the development is to create an educational environment in the fields of mechanical, electronic and electrical engineering, specialised mechanical and automotive engineering, which will enable students to acquire state-of-the-art skills and knowledge, the Chancellor said.

Total transformation

Over the next 13 months, more than 2,000 square metres of the school complex, which has been built in several phases since the early 1900s, will be renovated. The facade will be insulated, windows and doors will be replaced, bathrooms will be modernised, a heat recovery ventilation system will be installed and the building will be heated and cooled by a heat pump.

The building will be enlarged with a 435 square metre extension, including new changing rooms and a classroom for practical training. In the attic there will be a 280 square metre mechanical engineering cabinet, which will house measuring, welding, CNC, electrical and mechatronics laboratories, said Norbert Ambrus.
