What is being built?
The sports hall in the conurbation city will be extended not only in width and length, but also upwards
The Municipality of Százhalombatta has announced a public procurement for design and construction works, which is aimed at the development of the Municipal Sports Hall,
According to the notice, the client is inviting bids from construction companies for the implementation of the plans prepared by ABK Építésziroda Kft., selected as a result of a previous public procurement procedure. The multi-purpose hall should primarily meet the conditions required to host NB-1/B handball matches,
but other sporting events and functions are also envisaged. The hall on Vasút Street would be extended and modernised to meet these requirements.
Renovation of the 45-year-old sports hall
The sports facility was built in 1980 and currently comprises a 46×56 and a 30×48 metre sports field with a double-sided grandstand with a capacity of five hundred spectators.
The hall is surrounded by a U-shaped steel pillar-framed ground floor and in some sections by two-storey service buildings, offices, changing rooms and storage rooms.
The walls of the steel-framed hall, supported by lattice girders, consist of asbestos-cement slabs insulated with mineral wool and covered with plastic.
Increase the ceiling height by two and a half metres
The contractor will be required to convert the existing sports hall to the required function and capacity by increasing the cubature, which can be created by demolishing the side wings and the head building of the existing building. The hall building will be retained, but its ceiling height will be increased to 9.5 metres instead of the current seven metres by reinforcing and raising the existing reinforced concrete columns, while the large span steel structure will be altered.
Multifunctionality of the facility
Even with the bleachers installed, the playing area of the converted facility will exceed 1,280 square metres. The sports floor will have to comply with the international standards for handball.
The total net floor area of the expanded hall with ground floor + 2 floors will be ~ 4500 m2. The seating capacity will be 1243 people in the mobile and fixed stands, with a maximum capacity of 1000 people for futsal matches and 2400 people for other events including the fighting stands.
Cost-effective maintenance
The multi-purpose hall will also include a steel truss structure for stage equipment. Accessible seating will also be provided in the auditorium. A lift will be installed to facilitate access to the building. The mechanical and electrical systems and fire protection of the sports hall will be extensively modernised. Cooling and heating of the building will be provided by air-source heat pumps, supplemented by district heating. Solar panels will be installed on the roof of the hall. New side and rear entrances will be added to the building, which will be barrier-free. The environment in front of the main entrance and around the building will be renewed, with electric charging points and bus and VIP parking.
Aiming for green building certification
The contractor's task is to prepare the implementation plan, based on the already completed approval plans, in addition to the construction permit and phased design services, in addition to the execution plans, with continuous customer design review.
The client's
expectation is to meet and document the requirements to achieve the BREEAM green building rating during design and construction as detailed in the specifications. The design task shall be carried out according to BIM methodology.
