The new sports facility of the small town hosting an NB1 handball team was inaugurated
Komló's new handball hall was handed over on 4 September. The 1,750 square metre sports facility, which can also be used by residents, was built by PESZTER Kft., according to public procurement data .
Zoltán Nyul, Deputy State Secretary of the Építési és Közlekedési Minisztérium (ÉKM) for Building Construction, said at the ceremony held at the Baranya County site that the city was worthy of the HUF 1.3 billion investment, as the handball of Komló has gained national fame, but the cooperation of all stakeholders was also needed for success.
Komló has found the right location for the construction, and the state-of-the-art facility will now provide sporting opportunities for local residents for decades to come at low maintenance costs, he said. The deputy state secretary said that the hall's aesthetic quality was of equal importance to the economic-operational and functional aspects, as it was worthy of the town's natural environment.
The mayor sees the inauguration of the hall as a day of celebration
Mayor József Polics said at the event that he considers the inauguration of the hall as a day of celebration.The road to this point has been sometimes bumpy, but thanks to local sports life and government support, we have managed to move forward and enrich the built environment of Komló with another important facility
