Bridges to be renovated and asphalt paved to make the Borsod road, also used by hikers, safer

Experts from HE-DO are creating conditions for safe transport on another section in Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County. On road 3716 between Vilmány and Vámosújfalu, more than 5,600 square metres of road surface are being renewed between kilometres 14+010 and 16+125. On the last day of June, work began with the clearing of vegetation along the road, followed by the removal of the existing pavement and the profiling of the existing pavement.

The bridges are also being renovated

After the binder layer has been applied in stages, a wearing course of 5.0-7.5 cm is applied over the entire surface of the affected section. In addition to the asphalt works, the project also includes the rehabilitation of three bridges with new backfill, waterproofing, kerbs, stop-ends, surrants and railings. The bridges will also receive new asphalt pavement, according to information published on the company's website.

Work has already been completed on half of the crossings

Work on this road started on the last day of June on behalf of Magyar Közút Nonprofit Zrt.. Among the many tasks already carried out were brush and shrub clearance and embankment cutting. The laying of asphalt pavement and the spreading of the bottom layer of the embankment have also been completed, as well as the rehabilitation of the right side of the bridges. Work is currently continuing on the left side of the bridges. Here too, asphalting, surfacing and the installation of signposts and guard rails will follow.

Crossing bridges will be ensured during the renovation

A special feature of the project is that, in order to ensure a narrow pavement width and sustainable traffic flow, the work to be carried out on the bridges has been divided into right- and left-hand work processes. This allows for alternating traffic diversion, which minimises traffic disruption during the works. The technological solutions and materials used take into account the characteristics of the road to ensure that the renovation is sustainable in the long term. The renovation work is expected to be completed by the end of October 2025. KM Építő Kft. is also participating in the works: the company's specialists are carrying out the demolition and construction of the guardrails.

The road 3716 is an important transport link between Vilmány and Vámosújfalu. The current pavement is in an extremely poor condition, with deep potholes on the uneven surface, which not only affects the comfort of road users, but also compromises road safety. The renovation will make traffic safer and more comfortable, which will not only benefit daily commuters but also visitors to the Regency Castle.
