Complex Catholic educational institution inaugurated in Győr
On Friday, the Prohászka Ottokár Orsolyita High School, Primary School and Kindergarten, which educates 900 children, was inaugurated in Győr.The diocese won HUF 8.3 billion for its renovation in separate tenders.
Miklós Soltész, Minister of State for Religious and Ethnic Relations of the Prime Minister's Office said in his welcome speech that the renovation works started in September 2020, but were delayed for several years due to archaeological excavations and the liquidation of one of the contractors.
He added that the final stage of the expansion and renovation of the 8,500-square-metre institution is the construction of a sports hall, the groundbreaking of which is planned for early November 2025.
With continuous use
Edina Pezenhofferné Molnár, Head of the Institution, said that despite the difficulties, the high school could start its operation in September 2023 and the kindergarten in September 2024 in the renovated and expanded building.
The elementary school took possession of its new location in September 2025, during the works Széchenyi István University provided a suitable place for students to study.
According to the diocese of Győr, a total of HUF 8.3 billion has been awarded for the renovation of the institution in various tenders.
As a result of the expansion, the kindergarten, which previously had 90 places, can now accommodate 126 children, while the high school, with classes 4 and 6, has increased from 297 to 425, and now educates and teaches 900 children, including 350 primary school pupils.
