What is being built?
Dévaványa's new public park and event venue is complete
A new public park and event venue has been built in Dévaványa, Békés County, with nearly half a billion forints in EU and Hungarian funding, the local government announced on Wednesday with reference number MTI. According to their announcement, the municipality received approximately 461 million forints in funding from the Regional and Municipal Development Operational Programme (TOP) Plus. The winner of the public procurement tender, Békés-Vill Kereskedelmi és Szolgáltató Kft., was able to use the funding to create a new park, which will also serve as the venue for the town's annual events.
A true community space has been created
The local government identified improving the quality of green spaces and urban climate conditions as its most important goals, but retaining rainwater was also an important consideration. To this end, two rain gardens were planted and rainwater collectors were installed.
The new public park connected to the town's main square will not only serve as a biologically active area, but will also function as an urban recreational area (with a relaxation park, walking area and water playground) for residents and visitors alike, in addition to its ecological role.
The following works were carried out during the investment:
- construction of coverings totalling 5616 m2-en, including:
- construction of car parks: 55 units
- construction of transport infrastructure: 1715 m2
- Creation of walkways and rest areas: 1424 m2
- creation of a multifunctional event space: 2477 m2
- construction of a dry playground: 1 unit
- Construction of a custom-designed fountain/water playground with water engineering: 1 unit
- green (lawns, shrubs, trees, street furniture, etc.) and blue (rain gardens) infrastructure development: 7864 m2
- design of electric car charger: 2 pcs.
- partial conversion of the only remaining building to create a barrier-free toilet and provide service functions: 239.38 m2
One and a half hectares have been redeveloped in the city centre
During the investment, which took less than a year to complete, an event space, walking area, bicycle service station, water playground and traditional playground, public toilet and drinking fountain were built on an area of almost one and a half hectares. In addition, several car parking spaces and two electric car charging stations were also created.
With the aim of stimulating the economy, the old service building already existing in the area has also been renovated, providing space for warehouses, offices and shops, according to the local government of the town, which has a population of almost 7,000.
