The Vajda-Papír would almost double its capacity
Vajda-Papír Csoport has launched its largest development cycle to date, which will involve the expansion and modernisation of existing plants, an increase in staff numbers, and the acquisition of new markets.
The company’s largest investment programme
The Hungarian family-owned company Vajda-Papír Csoport has a significant market presence across Central and Eastern Europe, the Baltic states and Scandinavia, exporting its products to more than 30 countries. In addition to European countries, products under the Ooops! brand are shipped from their Hungarian factories to Asia and even the Caribbean.
However, their aim is to further expand their market share: through this development programme, production capacity will increase by approximately 40% by the end of the third year, whilst sustainability and efficiency will also improve. The investments will boost the company’s competitiveness in the long term, whilst state-of-the-art, efficient technologies will ensure stable growth – we learnt from the press release sent to our newspaper.
Attila Vajda, founding managing director of Vajda-Papír Csoport, noted that the acquisition of Sofidel Hungary’s household paper business in Lábatlan is currently underway; the financial closure of the transaction is expected in the second quarter of 2026, following the granting of competition authority approvals.
He emphasised that the acquisition would enable Vajda-Papír to expand its product portfolio and further strengthen the region’s security of supply.
„Following the planned acquisition, we are counting on the diligence, expertise and experience of the more than 170 employees in Lábatlan, who will play a key role in our future growth plans. Once the transaction has been finalised, we also plan to expand our workforce further so that we can work together to meet the growing volume of orders,” he said.
They may also expand in Lábatlan
The Vajda-Papír Csoport project will examine the possibilities for modernising and expanding the plant, whilst also ensuring that employees continue to benefit from the existing remuneration scheme and career progression model.
The three-year investment programme, worth 40 billion forints, represents not only an expansion in scale but also the technological modernisation of the entire group, improvements in the energy efficiency of production, the strengthening of sustainable, environmentally friendly operations, and an increase in the security of supply for the Hungarian and regional paper markets.
„The aim of Vajda-Papír is to significantly increase its turnover and EBITDA in the coming years, whilst continuing to provide reliable, high-quality Hungarian products to domestic and international consumers,” emphasised Attila Vajda.
