The project was launched in mid-June and will be completed by the end of September.

Road renovation work is being carried out in the 16th district of the capital, between Menyhért Street and Timur Street, according to information published on the company's website HE-DO. The old roads and pavements are being renewed, and the partially constructed rainwater drainage network is also being completed in the street. The contractor's specialists took over the work site in mid-June and immediately began construction. The investment is being financed from municipal funds, commissioned by the 16th district of Budapest.

"You can build like a chessboard"

"In addition to the construction of roads and pavements, the project involves the construction of a stormwater network, partly in the form of drainage blocks. Construction can be done in a checkerboard manner: there are 4 street crossings and 3 intersections in the work area. Due to minor disruption to the population, road construction could start in two phases, pavement construction in two phases, with the reconstruction of the junctions scheduled for the very end."

- reported on the main phases of the work, Gellért Timár, HE-DO's chief architect.

The need for the reconstruction was justified by the dilapidated condition of the old road and pavement, the statement says, adding that the project will also include a wider pavement and a narrower roadway, as well as parallel parking lanes of varying widths and green islands.

The planned completion and handover date is the end of September 2024.
