Among other things, access to the M43 motorway is also helped by the ongoing investment, which has been successfully launched as a result of advocacy.

The section of road 4426 connecting Pitvarost and Tótkomlós in Békés County is being renovated , according to delmagyar.hu. According to the newspaper, work began on the 1.6-kilometre section on 13 August Magyar Közút Nzrt. „We understand that the road structure will not be repaired, but the section will be covered with two layers of asphalt,” reads the article in delmagyar.hu.

One of the reasons why the 4426 is so important is that it forms part of the transport corridor leading to the M43 motorway for the surrounding municipalities.

Large-scale pavement repair in the Tótkomlós area

As a precursor to the project, the Pitvaros-Tótkomlós section of the route in Csongrád County was renovated a few years ago as part of the Hungarian Village Programme. However, the reconstruction of the Békés county side was not completed, which caused a lot of annoyance to the people who passed by, and therefore several initiatives were launched to replace it.

According to delmagyar.hu, the Jadviga Local Patriotic Association of Tótkomlós has set the goal of connecting Tótkomlós to the M43 motorway via a high-quality road. According to their community page, the investment in question is the result of their advocacy, with the large-scale pavement repairs being carried out on a 1.6-kilometre stretch of road outside Tótkomlós at the expense of additional funding.

In addition, according to the article, the mayors of Nagyér, Ambrózfalva, Csanádalberti and Pitvaros in Csongrád-Csanád County have also initiated the reconstruction of the road, writing a letter to János Lázár, the Parliamentary Minister of Construction.
