Road building
Another 5 km of cycle paths to be built along the Croatian border
A cycle path more than 5.3 kilometres long is being built between Lenti and Hernyék, following the route of the 75 main road, with an investment of almost 422 million forints, according to the Zala County Local Government (ZVÖ). As can be seen from the public procurement data available online , the project will be carried out by Alpok Terra Kft..
The consortium, led by ZVÖ and involving the municipalities of Lenti and Hernyék, won funding from the EU TOP-PLUSZ funds through the Zala on two wheels project. The new cycle path will increase the length of the cycle path networks, improve the accessibility of the small-region tourist attractions, but will also enable the connection of the settlements by bicycle, thus improving the conditions and quality of cycle tourism.
Following the hand-over of the works on 10 March, construction will take 200 days
- In Lenti, 4.6 km of inland and suburban sections,
- And on the outskirts of Hernyék, there is a path of about 700 metres.
The development will take place on the north side of the 75 motorway, parallel to it.
Significant network of cycle paths expanded
The communication also points out that the new project fits in well with the cycle paths already built in the region:
In recent years, almost 7.2 kilometres of cycle paths have been built in the centre of Lenti, 2.5 kilometres towards Lentikápolna, 4.6 kilometres towards Rédics and nearly 12.1 kilometres towards Csömödér. Kerkateskánd, Lovászit and Tornyiszentmiklós are connected by a new cycle route of about 3.1 km.
