Road building
Work on the Biatorbágy slip road on the M1 motorway has been completed; the first phase of the expansion is now finished
We have been following followed the reconstruction of the M1 junction near Biatorbágy, where the final track structure of the expanded motorway was the first to be completed. On the MKIF Magyar Koncessziós Infrastruktúra Fejlesztő Zrt. social media page we learnt from a recent post that: from today (1 June), new traffic arrangements will come into force, as roadworks on the Biatorbágy slip road are being completed.
The slip road is expected to open to traffic on Monday afternoon, which will alter the current traffic arrangements. Drivers heading towards Budapest can follow the route below to reach the M0 and continue towards Budapest and Budaörs:
- On the M1, when travelling from Győr towards the M0 motorway, drivers in the diverted lane will only be able to return to the undiverted lane at kilometre 17, via a single lane. In addition, traffic will join from the Biatorbágy slip road, i.e. the slip road lane from Main Road 1.
- The two lanes will run side by side until the M0 junction, from where the M0 and the route towards Budapest can be accessed.
- Drivers wishing to travel from Main Road 1 towards Budaörs and Budapest should take the inside lane (the lane not diverted) after the Biatorbágy slip road, as this will allow them to continue straight on towards the capital.
- Drivers arriving from Győr who wish to continue towards Budapest and Budaörs should remain in the diverted inner lane, as per the current traffic arrangements. For them, the traffic arrangements remain unchanged.
The new traffic arrangements will not affect those travelling towards Győr.
