Water management
Major developments in Mures municipalities in Transylvania
Romantic, natural floodplain forests line the slow-flowing Maros River, which once dominated the entire Transylvanian Basin. The two small settlements of Cisteiu de Mures (Magyarcsesztve) and Micoslaca (Miklóslaka) are wedged into its bends. The villages in Fehér County did not have a sewage system until now, but this is about to change thanks to the Romanian subsidiary of Szabadics Zrt., SZABADICS Romania Srl., a Romanian subsidiary of Szabadics Zrt., with the help of a non-repayable grant from the "Anghel Saligny" programme.
Eight kilometres of wastewater network under construction
The investment, worth around RON 6.5 million net, in the streets of the Cisteiu de Mureș and Micoșlaca municipalities and the Ocna Mureș DC3 route, will not only allow the construction of the sewerage network, but also the disposal of the waste water, including the construction of four public interceptors. This important social and economic development will allow the construction of 8,130 metres of sewerage network, 3,060 metres of connection pipes and 1,633 metres of sewage transport network in approximately 20 months.
"We plan to complete the work ahead of schedule, by the end of 2024," Orban Cristian, project manager, told us.
To this end, the contractor has already built around 1,500 metres of gravity backbone and around 1,900 metres of pressure pipeline in the municipality of Cisteiu, but work was suspended in early December and restarted in early January due to the approaching holidays. As gas pipeline construction is also taking place in the area of the works, the contractor has to be particularly careful in the construction of the utilities, while also paying attention to the work of the company that is building the gas pipeline.
When asked about the cooperation between the client and the contractors, the project manager emphasised:
"the client is involved in parallel investments, but everyone will take the necessary steps to ensure that the facilities are built as planned, in the common interest"
Local professionals do the work
The implementation will be carried out by colleagues employed in Romania, with Szabadics Zrt., based in Nagykanizsa, providing support services. The people working for Szabadics Romania Srl. are dedicated professionals - when selecting colleagues, it was important not only to have experience in a similar role and working environment, but also to have the appropriate qualifications, such as civil engineering.
"Collaboration helps us to discover similarities and differences in working methods; sharing best practice in the case of similarities, conscious adaptation, willingness to learn and openness to new methods in the case of differences are of paramount importance"
- stressed Orban Cristian, adding:
"We have a good cooperation and mutual trust with our partners, which is mainly due to the fact that we pay special attention to communication and payment deadlines."
