Csorvás's new sewage treatment plant treats water for six thousand people

The Csorvás wastewater treatment plant was built in 1994 and underwent mechanical renovation in 2008. The plant was unable to provide adequate hydraulic and treatment capacity, which resulted in fines in recent years. Therefore, it was essential to upgrade the wastewater treatment technology, which was achieved by completely dismantling the plant. The work was carried out by Veolia Water Solutions & Technologies Magyarország Zrt.. The six-month trial operation of the plant was successfully completed, according to a statement by the Csorvás Local Government to MTI.

As a result of the investment, the daily capacity has increased from 500 to 634 cubic metres, providing the technical infrastructure necessary to treat the wastewater of more than 6,000 people.

The new plant is fully automated and can be operated remotely, ensuring adequate water quality for decades to come, they wrote. The plant will continue to operate under the supervision of its previous operator, Alföldvíz Zrt.. Parallel to its renovation and capacity expansion, the sewer network has also undergone partial reconstruction.

As stated on the website of the town in Békés County with a population of nearly 4,500, they have contracted for 1.6 billion forints in funding – with a 90 per cent funding intensity – from the EU's Environment and Energy Efficiency Operational Programme (KEHOP) Plus framework.
