The lighting technology at Puskás Aréna, home to the Champions League final, rises to the highest level

According to public procurement data, the call for tenders for the development of the lighting at the Puskás Arena has been published. Public procurement Nemzeti Sportügynökség Nonprofit Zrt. specified the following tasks:

• improvement of the sports lighting system in the arena;
• designing ceremonial lighting for key areas (especially the starting circle and the area in front of the players' entrance);
• as well as the installation/conversion of the colour (RGB-CCT) lighting system in the West VIP room of the Puskás Arena.

In order to host the Champions League final, the stadium must meet the highest standards.

The aim of the investment is to

• the sports lighting in the arena complies with the requirements of UEFA Stadium Lighting Guide 2023 ELITE LEVEL A;
• the lighting of prominent areas shall comply with the ceremonial lighting requirements specified in UEFA Stadium Entertainment Lighting Guide 2023,
• the lighting technology service level in the West VIP lounge should match that of the East VIP (Business) lounge.

According to UEFA's publicly available regulations – which specify exactly what level of lighting is required for which events – , compliance with Elite Level A level lighting is a mandatory requirement for hosting the Champions League final.

This is included in the project

The task includes, among other things

• the installation of the necessary new light fixtures and support structures;
• the expansion of the tram network;
• integration and programming of lighting control systems;
• the conversion of existing lighting fixtures;
• as well as the complete commissioning, measurement, documentation and handover of the system.

The Champions League final is coming to our country for the first time

Hungary's premier football stadium will host the final of the current Champions League series next year: on 30 May 2026, the final of Europe's most prestigious club competition will be held in our country for the first time. Liverpool, which currently employs Dominik Szoboszlai, Miloš Kerkez and Ármin Pécsi, and Galatasaray, which has Roland Sallai in its ranks, are still in contention in the series. Both teams have a good chance of advancing with two rounds remaining before the end of the group stage.

The last time a Hungarian footballer played in the final of the most prestigious cup competition was in 1978, when Lajos Kű played for Clube Brugge, who were defeated 1-0 by Liverpool at Wembley Stadium thanks to Kenny Dalglish's magnificent strike.
