MEVA provided the scaffolding supporting the multi-storey ice rink at the Csepel Ice Park.

This year, Hotel Kft., which has been operating the Csepel ice rink for years, wanted to dazzle the audience with a new attraction, so Marco Pellicano, the managing director, came up with the idea: „Let's create something that has never been seen before in our country. Let's take it to the next level and give ice a new dimension!”

To realise his idea, he contacted MEVA Zsalurendszerek Zrt., who were happy to provide technical advice on how to professionally implement this extraordinary concept. As Kálmán Oberrecht, technical advisor to MEVA, informed our newspaper about the details:

„The experts at MEVA also recognised the challenge posed by this idea and responded by creating the optimal solution by combining a special MT60 scaffolding tower with a MevaFlex slab formwork superstructure.”

 

 

It must be able to handle a three-tonne machine

Hungary's first two-storey ice rink was therefore built according to the plans of MEVA. The 2.2-metre-high upper level is accessible via a 60-metre-long ramp, which is a particular challenge for skaters – and there is no shortage of them, as the Csepel Ice Park is now a nationally renowned attraction.

„It had to meet important technical requirements: we needed a technical solution that could be quickly constructed and dismantled, and which could safely bear the weight of the ice and the skaters, as well as the load of the dynamically moving three-tonne ice regeneration machine, which places the greatest strain on the structure," pointed out Kálmán Oberrecht.

Based on the designs and structural calculations of MEVA, the construction proceeded smoothly, and load tests confirmed the accuracy and reliability of the engineers' work.

 

 

Success depended on well-chosen products

The MT60 is a modular, lightweight, heavy-duty steel scaffolding and support system designed primarily for the quick and safe support of slabs and other temporary structures. Logical connection points, tool-free assembly and compact storage all contributed to the installation of the track base. The flexible height adjustment of the scaffolding towers and the fact that the entire system is suitable for supporting heavy loads, such as formwork and floor structures, also accelerated the construction process.

All MT60 scaffolding towers are compatible with the MEVA slab formwork system and have a load capacity of 60 kN per tower leg and a footprint of 1.70×1.70 metres (for standard towers). The height of the scaffolding tower can be flexibly adjusted between 2.2 metres and 18.66 metres. The frame module types (frame heights) can be adjusted between 50 and 100 cm, and fine adjustments can be easily made with the base screw (max. 44 cm) and head screw (max. 62 cm).

 

 

They will be able to complete the exciting course in a single day.

Today, thousands of visitors can enjoy the ice park's 400-metre-long, exciting ice corridor, which will be open to visitors between 21 November 2025 and 28 February 2026. The ice, made from crystal-clear filtered water, will remain hard, smooth and of excellent quality until the end of the season, even in mild weather, thanks to high-capacity refrigeration equipment.

In March, experts will dismantle the scaffolding on the upper floor in a single day, which will then serve as elements for stages, podiums or platforms at summer events.
