Szarvas strengthened with sustainable public buildings

The energy modernisation of three municipal buildings in Szarvas has been completed, for which the municipality of Békés county could spend about half a billion forints, the local government said.

448 million forints from the EU Operational Programme for Spatial and Urban Development (TOP) Plus

• the city library,
• the former waterworks office building,
• and the NKft. building of the Szarvas Childcare NKft. was renovated.

The properties received wall and ceiling insulation, upgraded windows and windowsills, solar panel extensions, heating upgrades and lighting upgrades in two locations.

Solar panels on the roof of every municipal building

"This project fits in well with the city's energy and energy development concept, which started with the rethinking of thermal heating. Then came the idea of how to replace electricity consumption in some form. Since then, solar panels have been installed on the roofs of all the municipal institutions" - explained Mayor Pál Hodálik at the closing event.

The latest phase of the city's sewerage investment at the half-way point

In the town of Békés county, with a population of more than 14,000, the construction of the stormwater sewerage system is also underway in the VIIIth phase, worth HUF 269 million. In seven streets, 7,540 metres of closed stormwater drainage is being built. The works carried out by the contractor Galéria Invest Kft. are more than 50 percent complete and are scheduled to be finished by the end of September, the mayor said.
