The Market has fulfilled its promise: it has delivered the 10,000 tonnes of natural stone offered for the raising of the bottom sill at Paks

As one of the first to respond to the Védelmi Igazgatási Hivatal call for tenders, it undertook to supply, process and transport 10,000 tonnes of aggregate for Market Építő Zrt. The logistics operation, designed to ensure a continuous supply of raw materials to water management specialists, took a total of 33 days, thereby fulfilling the commitment. 

In this critical situation, the timing of the intervention and the continuity of the works were of paramount importance. The water management authorities were responsible for the professional management of the entire process and for defining the technical specifications, whilst Védelmi Igazgatási Hivatal was responsible for operational coordination. In line with this state and professional framework, Market Csoport mobilised its own resources and supplied a steady daily volume of approximately 270 tonnes of stone for installation on site.

Transporting the stone required complex organisation. Due to the conditions at the site, transport by rail or water was not an option, so the entire quantity was transported by road to the Danube. The lorries working on the project each covered around 390 kilometres a day, whilst the fleet’s combined daily mileage averaged 3,900 kilometres.

In addition to the mining machinery used for extraction, crushing and loading, the equipment and specialists of OKM Építőipari és Szolgáltató Kft., a subsidiary of Market Csoport specialising in underground works, were also involved. The entire process – from processing and weighing through to the precise scheduling of transport – was managed by a dedicated team of 13 specialists assigned specifically to this task.

As of yesterday, the 10,000 tonnes of quarry stone contracted for had arrived in full at the designated site on the Danube, directly supporting the water management authorities’ work on raising the riverbed sills.
