Szeged's new artwork is waiting for a designer

Art students can apply to design a new outdoor artwork for the city centre. The call for entries is published by KÉSZ Csoport.

Young artists are also invited to submit their entries to KÉSZ Csoport is also accepting applications from young artists to design a unique work of art that will be placed in the inner courtyard of the TILIA office building in downtown Szeged. The aim of the initiative is to enrich the urban environment with an aesthetically outstanding work of art in support of the arts.

The TILIA office building is being built in Szeged, between Gutenberg utca and Hajnóczy utca, by reimagining and extending the former Civil Girls' School. The harmony of the listed building and the modern architectural elements will make the inner courtyard of the office building a special meeting point for both the city residents and the office users. The project investor, KÉSZ Csoport, is planning to install an outstanding work of art in this area. The aim of the sculpture is to create a unique atmosphere and enhance the aesthetic value of the site, while preserving the harmony of the environment.

 

Art students can also apply

The group has been committed to supporting culture and the visual arts for decades.In 2017, it launched the K-ARTS Art Foundation, whose mission is to promote contemporary art in Hungary, working with steel and other industrial materials.

It also pays special attention to the future generation, which was an important aspect of the competition. In addition to artists working in the fields of fine arts, applied arts, architecture, landscape architecture and design, applications from art students still in their studies are also welcome.

 

Innovation and creativity

"The TILIA office building, due to open in May 2025, will be a meeting point between historic and contemporary architecture. Through the visual arts competition, we are looking for artists whose innovative works contribute to the uniqueness of the space and enrich the architectural project with their creative solutions, with a special emphasis on our sustainability efforts. Moreover, Szeged is of particular importance for our group, as the Szeged office has been operating in the city since 1988"

Applications are welcome until mid-February

By submitting an application, you can not only shape the cultural future of Szeged, but the best three entries will also receive a valuable cash prize. The deadline for submissions is 14.02.2025.
