Trams can run faster around Jászai Mari tér.

At the beginning of the summer school holidays, on 21 June, comprehensive track renovation work will begin on a particularly busy section of the Grand Boulevard tram line, between Jászai Mari Square and Tátra Street, according to BKV Zrt. on Wednesday.

The project, which is expected to last until early August, will renew around 415 metres of degraded track. Trams 4 and 6, which are among the busiest tram lines in Europe, are used 330-350,000 times on an average working day.

The 4-6 will be quieter

A particularly important part of the project is the construction of a new track between the siding at Jászai Mari Square and Tátra Street, called the "rail encapsulation", a state-of-the-art noise and vibration damping technology, which involves the use of a special elastic material to encapsulate the rails, reducing the vibration and noise generated by trams

- they wrote.

They added that the noise and vibration damping will also make the trams quieter and more comfortable, and that the speed limit previously imposed on the section due to the condition of the track will be lifted after the renovation, allowing trams to run at 50 kilometres per hour again.
