The winner has been selected for the implementation of Phase II of the Buda tram network interconnection project
According to ekr.gov.hu, the winner of the tender is SWIETELSKY Magyarország Kft. – SWIETELSKY Vasúttechnika Kft., which was awarded the construction contract with a bid of 26.9 billion forints net. The contracting authority for the project is Építési és Közlekedési Minisztérium.
It is important to note, however, that the decision is not yet final: an appeal against the result may be lodged within eight days, and the contract has not yet been signed.
The project plans were drawn up by Főmterv Mérnöki Tervező Zrt..
With the southerly extension of the Buda tram network,
The trams will serve BME, ELTE, Infopark, the Kopaszi Gát area and the new station on the Southern Circular Line at Nádorkert.
2.8 kilometres of new tram tracks are being built
One of the most important elements of the project is the construction of a new double-track tram line over a distance of 2.8 kilometres, bringing the total length of track to 5.6 kilometres.
As part of the development:
- a grass-covered tram track is being laid over a stretch of at least 1.2 kilometres,
- Seven new accessible bus stops are being built,
- and a new terminal building is being constructed at the Dombóvári út junction.
Significant greening and waterfront development
The project is not only a transport initiative but also an urban development scheme. The upper section of the embankment and the area along Dombóvári út up to Budafoki út will also be revitalised.
According to the plans
- 394 trees are planting
- and 27,431 shrubs are being installed.
In addition, it will be developed
- one continuous waterfront promenade,
- and 2,660 metres of cycle infrastructure between St Gellért Square and Rákóczi Bridge.
Comprehensive utility and infrastructure development
The construction of the tram line also involves significant utility and energy-related works.
During the construction work
- over a length of 2,850 metres the necessary overhead line is being installed,
- 6,484 metres of new service pipes are being installed,
- are converting the the DC power supply of the BKV,
- and the street lighting is being upgraded and pay for the utilities.
The scale of the public utility developments in question:
- Drinking water pipeline: 3,808 m (of which 1,106 m has an internal diameter of at least 700 mm)
- sewerage system: 4,778 m
- telecommunications cables: 11 service providers affected
- electrical cable: 32,886 m
- gas pipeline: 1,756 m
