The planning of the section of railway line 140 between Cegléd and Kiskunfélegyháza represents another step forward in the development of the transport infrastructure of the Southern Great Plain.

The Építési és Közlekedési Minisztérium published in the EU public procurement notice.

The approximately 60-kilometre section between Cegléd and Kiskunfélegyháza is part of the double-track, electrified main line MÁV 140. The line runs from Cegléd to Szeged, passing through Kiskunság and handling significant domestic traffic. As we we wrote earlier, the procedure has already been announced for the Kiskunfélegyháza–Szeged-Rendező section of the line.

Main objectives and content of the development

The aim of the design task now announced is to make the section suitable for a 225 kN axle load and a design speed of 160 km/h. The modernisation includes the upgrading of the overhead line network and safety equipment, as well as the stations and stops – Cegléd railway station, Cegléd szállások stop, Nyársapát railway station, Nagykőrös railway station, Katonatelep railway station, Kecskemét railway station, Városföld railway station, Kunszállás stop.

As part of the work, a feasibility study, a complete set of permit and construction plans, and the tender documentation required for public procurement for the construction will be prepared. The designer must also participate in the permit procedures.

BIM-based, complex design

The authorisation and implementation plans are prepared using the BIM-based digital building information model, covering all relevant disciplines – from road construction and engineering structures to environmental protection, telecommunications, geotechnical and building construction works.

The documentation includes, among other things, an environmental impact assessment, archaeological documentation and land use plans.

There are 1365 days available for planning. Deadline for receipt of tenders: 11 December 2025.
