MÁV has announced a conditional public procurement tender for the design of the Hatvan–Füzesabony railway line, worth approximately HUF 1.7 billion. The winning bidder will have 300 days to prepare the approval and implementation plans.

A conditional public procurement tender was announced for the long-awaited railway renovation design tasks MÁV. The tender tender seeking a designer for the project to modernise 62.214 kilometres of the 80 railway line between Hatvan and Füzesabony was published in the EU public procurement bulletin with an estimated net value of approximately HUF 1.710 billion. rel="noopener">tender has been published in the EU public procurement bulletin, with an estimated net value of approximately HUF 1.710 billion. The winning engineering firm will have 300 days to complete the design, which will include the preparation of the permit and implementation plans.

The affected section is a double-track, electrified 80 km line that primarily connects the capital with Miskolc in Borsod County and Sátoraljaújhely in Zemplén County, but the line also handles international traffic to Košice and long-distance InterCity traffic to Sátoraljaújhely and Nyíregyháza, among other destinations.

62 kilometres, 63 works of art

Sixty-three structures need to be modernised on the section between Hatvan and Füzesabony, and based on the documentation currently being prepared, the modernisation of safety equipment, telecommunications, overhead lines, electrical substations and street lighting must also be planned for the entire 62-kilometre stretch.

Documentation will also be prepared for the replacement of superstructures and turnouts on the open line section and the main tracks of the stations, as well as for the related tasks, in order to ensure that after the renovation, the axle load of the railway track is suitable for 225 kN and a speed of 120 km/h.

The project also includes the design of platform constructions at the Vámosgyörk and Nagyút stations, as well as at the Adács and Karácsond stops. This must be carried out over a length of 250 metres at each location, while maintaining the current track layout and platform arrangement, as well as level access to the platforms. The height of the new platforms will be 55 cm above the rail.

As noted in the tender: in 2015, the right track on the open section of the Nagyút-Füzesabony line was rebuilt with the reinforcement of the substructure and engineering structures, so these works no longer need to be carried out or planned.
