A new district office has been opened in Záhony, on the Ukrainian border. The new headquarters in the town in Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg county was built out of the former MÁV hospital. The building, which had been unused for more than a decade and was in a steadily deteriorating state, was rebuilt at a cost of HUF 516 million, of which some HUF 200 million was financed by EU funds.

As revealed in the previous article on szon.hu previous article, the building in question was in need of complete renovation. Accordingly, the work included replacing the windows and doors, modernising the heating system and insulating the exterior of the façade. A solar panel system was also installed as part of the development, and parking spaces were provided, as well as landscaping of the courtyard.

The renovated building also houses a filing room and the local education service will also move into this modernised building.

The event was also attended by Tibor Navracsics, Minister of Public Administration and Regional Development. The politician stressed that public administration is an important competitiveness factor not only in terms of how long it takes to deal with a case, but also in terms of the conditions that citizens are expected to face when dealing with their cases.
