New office building Weinberg built with world-class digital technology
One of Hungary's leading general contractors and steel structure manufacturers, Weinberg ’93 Építő Kft. began operations in 1993. The Hungarian-owned company's continuous growth has made it a significant player in the construction industry at the national level, and its activities have been recognised with numerous professional awards.
Due to the large increase in staff numbers, the company needed a new office building, the inauguration of which also marked the 30th anniversary of Weinberg: Minister of Construction and Transport János Lázár also attended the grand event held in Sárospatak on 25 April. A detailed report on the event can be found in our newspaper at detailed report in our newspaper. In our April issue, we published an interview with the company's founder and owner, István Derczó, about the company's development, its mission statement and its role in the Zemplén region.
Office building worthy of its market position
Their new building does not compete with the old office building, but instead connects it with a bridge to reflect the spirit of the company. The jointly created gateway motif opens up the company's industrial areas to newcomers.
"Next to the existing building with its unique façade, we envisioned a more subdued block connected by a neck link," said architect Csaba Livják, founder and managing director of BuildEXT.
In keeping with the previous office building, the designers have created a simple brick body, with the openings on the main façade subtly recessed and leading up to the building's boundary, giving the building a dynamic with subtle framing. The new office building has a floor area of 1,100 square metres, with a total of 1,700 square metres of office space connected to the old building.
BuildEXT was responsible not only for the design but also for the BIM-based project management of the expansion of the Sárospatak office, which was a conscious effort of Weinberg, which employs more than 300 people, to strengthen the family character and human relations. To this end, the new office building also represents this spirit: it has been built with lobbies, meeting areas, spacious terraces and community spaces.
Outstanding technology
The office development of Weinberg in Sárospatak was designed and coordinated using perhaps the world's most advanced Closed BIM and CDE technology. They used laser scanners to measure the existing condition and then built a digital model of the building in virtual space, simulating its operation, construction, costs and optimising its carbon footprint. During construction, the model was continuously checked and updated with information to create a digital replica of the building that could be operated.
The Dalux platform was used for the design delivery, allowing for fast information access, understanding and VR visualisation of the designs and the model. The project is based on the world's latest digital construction standard, ISO 19650, which
So innovative, in fact, that the designers were invited to share their practical application experience at a 2,000-person engineering conference in Copenhagen last November.
"It is no exaggeration to say," added Csaba Livják, "that the new technology used in the Weinberg building is of outstanding importance not only in Hungary, but also in Europe.
