New function, preserved values - a dormitory is built in Újbuda

The renovation of the Aga Street dormitory of the Hungarian Foundation for Leadership Training, built by the Fejér-B.Á.L Zrt. and Épkar Zrt. consortium, is nearing completion.

The building, which bears the hallmarks of the turn of the millennium and emphasises its corner location with curved glass surfaces next to the angular building block, can be transformed by Fejér-B.Á.L. Zrt. and Fejér-B.Á.L. Zrt. and Épkar Zrt. on a small street in Újbuda for the Hungarian Leadership Training Foundation. During the development of the foundation's dormitory on Aga Street, the contractors' task is to preserve the building's values while adapting it to today's energy and comfort requirements. The former office spaces will be converted into dormitory accommodation during the comprehensive renovation and expansion. The simple, plastered façade surfaces, as seen in the photos, were broken up by highlighting the original ribbon windows of the building and transforming the corner motif into a curtain wall, while a large terrace was created on the top floor.

Chapel and gym to be built

As the relevant public procurement documents show, Fejér-B.Á.L. can develop the space needed for education, training, further training, dormitories, vocational colleges and the student residence for approximately HUF 1.3 billion. According to a post on Épkar's Facebook page, the handover of the building is imminent.

The contractor is required to create single and double rooms for a total of 55 people, in addition to communal spaces including a chapel, gym, common kitchen, lounge, study and library rooms, and a lecture and training room for 50 people.

With a net floor area of approximately 1,597 m2, the complete renovation included the replacement of 53 exterior and 47 interior windows, the installation of a solar system and a lift, in addition to electrical and air conditioning installations. The on-site parking, the landscaping of the garden and the transformation of the garden into an outdoor community space are also important.
