Siófok's popular spa to reopen in a year
The parties have signed the contract, according to an announcement by the Siófok Municipal Council on its website . On Thursday, Ágota Kósz, managing director of Balaton-parti Kft., signed the contract for the renovation of the Galerius Baths with the leaders of the companies forming the consortium of contractors.
The Fehérép építőipari Kft. from Székesfehérvár and the Fürdőpark vízgépészeti Kft. from Budapest won the public procurement procedure as joint bidders and will renovate the spa in Siófok.
The municipal Kft., the operator of the spa, won HUF 900 million of the HUF 1.8 billion investment, which is planned for one year, through a state tourism tender, while the other half of the costs will be covered by Kft. and the city. As announced at the signing ceremony:
The Balaton-parti Kft. must hand over the work area to the contractors within 15 days, so the Galerius Spa will be a construction site from 23 August at the latest.
Great difficulties, serious interest
The renovation of the Galerius Spa has caused a major dilemma for the municipality of Siófok. Opened in 2006, it had to be closed in June 2021 due to technical problems and the risk of accidents, and its fate was in question until the end of 2022.
"It wasn't easy to get here either. We designed a spa that would be able to meet the requirements for many years, decades. This can be guaranteed by the professional background of the contractors," the municipality quotes János Balázs, the project manager.
Tamás Sipos, Managing Director of Fehérép and István Hajdu, Senior Manager of the Spa Park also emphasized: their cooperation is not a forced consortium, they have already built several similar facilities together, with the joint work of the swimming pool and construction industry. They added that a renovation project like the Siofok Spa is more complex than the construction of a new building.
"In Siófok, the present and the future of the spa has indeed become the focus of interest, and now that the construction can start, this may even increase" - said Lajos Volgyi, who is not only the chairman of the finance committee, but also of the supervisory board of Balaton-parti Kft..
