The first phase of the 14-hectare SME Park opens in Debrecen's Southern Economic Belt

Small and medium-sized enterprises will soon be able to use the SME Park in Debrecen's Southern Economic Belt, the first phase of which was supported by the government with HUF 2 billion.

Richárd Szabados, Minister of State for the Development of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises of the Ministry of National Economy, called the facility for the establishment of small and medium-sized enterprises a national example at his briefing on Friday.

According to Mayor László Papp, the SME Park will be developed on 14 hectares in the 710-hectare Southern Economic Belt. The first phase of the SME Park was launched two years ago.

16 companies have signed contracts

Contracts were signed in 2022, and the tender was full of applicants within 24 hours of opening, he recalled. He said:

16 companies have purchased investment land, 11 manufacturers and 1 logistics company and 4 industrial services companies plan to operate here. In the first phase, the companies will invest nearly 13.2 billion HUF, which will also create 256 jobs.

The developments will add 19 500 square metres to Debrecen's real estate stock. The mayor stressed that the park will bring small and medium-sized enterprises physically close to multinationals and will allow them to demonstrate their viability.
