The external renovation will be followed by the reconstruction of the interior of the old water mill

One of the most exciting elements of the development plans is the water mill building. Until the 1970s, it was an industrial facility in the village nestling in the Ban Valley. The 500-year-old building is the oldest structure in the village in the Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén county.

According to sources, the waters of the Bán Stream once powered seven mill wheels, but today only one remains as a reminder of the past, in Vadna. According to the public procurement notice published at announcement published in the public procurement notice, the municipality is looking for a contractor to renovate the interior of the ancient building after the exterior renovation has been completed.

The mill's machinery will be back at work

The aim of the project, which would be financed by EU funds, is to restore the piggery to its original form. The building will have a useful floor area of 88.34 square metres, in which a functional milling system will be created by renovating the existing milling technology and replacing missing elements.

Saving hand-carved beams

The typical Gömöri-style mill building was also the home of the miller. The contractor has to restore the original elements of the mill as authentically as possible. The current floor structure will be dismantled and replaced, according to the notice. The project will be carried out under the supervision of a timber preservation expert, one of the main reasons for this being that a specialist opinion will have to be obtained on the condition of the hand-carved old beams. The remaining wooden structures in the mill interior are of different ages and will be reinforced and professionally conserved where possible and necessary.

The four-metre diameter mill wheels are rotated

According to the milling technology plan, an operational milling machinery system (machines and equipment for grinding grain) will be created by renovating and replacing existing elements. On completion of the works, it is planned that the mill machinery will be powered by two electric motors. On the outside of the building, a water wheel will be constructed, which will rotate in a built-in basin. To operate the former, a pump will supply the water to the top of the wheel. The water wheel of the mill will be 4.0 m in diameter and 0.8 m wide. The milling system will also be renovated and restored.

The old parish and stable buildings are also being renovated

According to the public procurement notice, in addition to the interior of the mill, the former parish and stable buildings, built in the 1800s, will be renovated. The original parsonage was L-shaped, but part of it was demolished during a rebuilding project. In addition to the remaining building of the rectory, which has a floor area of around 32 square metres, the client also wishes to preserve the barn, which has a floor area of almost 52 square metres, by retrofitting insulation and installing a new building services system. The contractor is also responsible for paving around 400 square metres of the buildings.

Playground and barrier-free parking at the equestrian gymnastics park

The third element of the development package is the creation of a car park in front of the equestrian gymnastics park. The winning bidder will be required to build an accessible ramp. In addition, the park will be equipped with playground equipment, benches and a garden bridge. The works also include the construction of paving on an area of approximately 310 square metres and the planting of almost 100 plants and the grassing of an area of 150 square metres.
