Construction of the MCC centre in Revfülö can continue
The call for tenders for the general construction of the Mathias Corvinus Collegium (MCC) camp in Révfülöp has been published in the EU Public Procurement Bulletin. According to the announcement, the construction project
- the landscaping of the campsite;
- on the other hand, it includes a comprehensive and complex development of related accommodation, sports facilities and service outlets.
The first phase was built using special technology
As we reported in detail earlier, the first phase of the development of the Cholnoky Jenő Children's and Youth Harbour and Student Camp in Révfülöp first phase of the development of the Cholnoky Jenő Children's and Youth Harbour and Student Camp in Révfülöp has already been completed: this work was carried out by the 2F-Bau Kft. and GB Group Kft. consortium.
In this phase, the marina and boathouse were upgraded, and a modern pavilion was built, which is also used as an educational and event venue. Another important element was the renovation of the overpass over the railway to provide pedestrian access to the camp.
An interesting feature of the project was that the community pavilion was built using CLT panel technology: an environmentally friendly and fast construction technology using plywood panels laminated by cross-laminating and pressing.
It must be able to accommodate large numbers of camps
According to the newly published public procurement notice, the aim is to build a training centre for year-round use on a total of 107,000 square metres of land. It should be able to accommodate a large number of camps during the summer season, providing both accommodation and the community and educational spaces needed to implement the Foundation's talent management programme.
To achieve this, new accommodation buildings will be constructed alongside the renovation and modernisation of the existing building stock.
According to the notice, the total useful floor area of the buildings will be around 6,500 square metres, with a total of 349 places. Nine of the existing 13 buildings will have to be demolished. Among other things, an agora will be created for outdoor performances and the existing kitchen and restaurant building will be upgraded for catering. There will also be open office space in the centre and sports fields and clearings for outdoor team games.
Open competition for 2022 plans
According to previous press reports, the objectives of MCC described above were partly achieved already in the year of the first investment phase, as a total of 1014 students, young people in training, national and foreign trainers participated in programmes at the centre in Revfülöp between the end of May and the beginning of October 2022.
We previously reported that a national, open architectural design competition was announced in 2022 to plan the renovation, conversion and expansion. At the end of this process, the entries by UNITEF’83 and A Fiúk Építész Stúdió tied for first place, and the jury recommended the latter studio to proceed with the negotiated public procurement procedure without a call for tenders.
