The Nestlé factory in Serencs strengthened with a new production plant
Nestlé's 1.5 gigawatt per year solar farm in Szerenc was inaugurated on 6 May. The solar farm will also contribute to freeing up green electricity capacity in the public electricity grid, helping other companies in their sustainability efforts, according to a statement issued by the company, which is known to have a Swiss background.
Nestlé has so far spent more than HUF 9 billion on development in the town in Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén county, which has become the company's regional headquarters. The coffee and cocoa drink powder production and filling plant has an annual capacity of nearly 40,000 tonnes, 90 percent of its products are exported and it employs around 500 workers
- they wrote.
The investment is worth HUF 730 million, for which the state provided HUF 330 million in subsidies under the Factory Rescue Programme, helping the Serenc plant to cover 30 percent of its own electricity needs.
An example of excellent synergy in Hungarian-international cooperation
Foreign Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said at the inauguration ceremony:
The operation of Nestlé, which employs around three thousand people in Hungary, is a good example of why it makes no sense to contrast the support of large international companies with that of domestic small and medium-sized enterprises, since the Swiss company, for example, also buys most of its raw materials from Hungarian farmers.
"Through Nestlé's Hungarian organisation, Hungarian entrepreneurs and farmers sold more than HUF 55 billion worth of produce and products through Nestlé's global network last year", he noted.
The Swiss-based company operates a chocolate factory in Diósgyőrő and a pet food production plant in Bük, in addition to its historical facility in Serencz, which was taken over at the time of the change of regime.
